Priligy Tablets , Premature Ejaculation Treatment

Priligy Tablets

Priligy is licensed specifically to treat premature ejaculation. Priligy contains an active substance called dapoxetine which belongs to a group of medicines called selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors. It increases the time taken to ejaculate and increases control over ejaculation and so reduces frustration and problems caused by the speed of ejaculation. This improves satisfaction with sex for the man and his partner.

The effectiveness of Priligy in the treatment of premature ejaculation has been established in five trials involving over 6000 men. The length of time to ejaculation was significantly increased but the amount of increase was dependent on the individual. In many cases the length of time to ejaculation was doubled and men felt more able to control ejaculation.

How to Use Priligy

The usual dose is 30 mg. Your doctor may increase the dose to 60 mg if required after trying the 30mg strength. You should take the medicine 1 to 3 hours before sexual activity. Swallow the tablet whole to avoid a bitter taste, with at least one full glass of water. This may help lower your chance of fainting (see side effects section).

Priligy can be taken with or without food, but it is not advised to drink alcohol with Priligy as this may increase effects of alcohol such as feeling dizzy, sleepy and having slow reactions. Also the risk of fainting with Priligy is increased.

Do not take Priligy more than once every 24 hours.

Caution is required when taking Priligy at the same time as Viagra (sildenafil), Levitra (vardenafil) or Cialis (tadalafil).

Priligy must only be used with caution if it is to be taken at the same time as medicines for erectile dysfunction, such as Viagra (sildenafil), Levitra (vardenafil) or Cialis (tadalafil). It is possible that when taken at the same time the combination of medicines can lower your blood pressure and make you feel faint when you are standing up. If you wish to avoid this possible side effect you should leave at least 24 hours between taking Priligy and taking Viagra or Levitra; and leave at least 48 hours between taking Priligy and Cialis. If you intend to take Priligy with Viagra (sildenafil), Levitra (vardenafil) or Cialis (tadalafil) it is important that you tell the doctor, and also ensure that for the first few times you take the medicines together you do so in a safe environment. Ensure that you are in a position to be able to sit or lie down if you do feel faint after taking the medicines in combination.

Priligy (dapoxetine) Side Effects

Like all medicines Priligy can cause side effects but many people will not get them.

Stop taking Priligy and see your doctor straight away if:

You have fits (seizures)

You faint or feel light headed when you stand up

You notice any changes in your mood

You have any thoughts of suicide or harming yourself.

If you notice any of the above, stop taking this medicine and see your doctor straight away.

Fainting and low blood pressure

Priligy can make you faint or make your blood pressure drop when you stand up. To help lower the chance of this happening:

Take Priligy with at least one full glass of water.

Do not take Priligy if you are dehydrated (you do not have enough water in your body). This can happen if you have not had anything to drink in the past 4 to 6 hours, you have been sweating for a long time, you have an illness where you have a high temperature, diarrhoea or being sick.

If you feel like you might faint (such as feeling sick, feeling dizzy, light headed, confused, sweaty or an abnormal heart beat), or feel light headed when you stand up, immediately lie down so your head is lower than the rest of your body or sit down with your head between your knees until you feel better. This will stop you from falling and hurting yourself if you do faint. Do not stand up quickly after you have been sitting or lying down for a long time. Do not drive or use any tools or machines if you feel faint when taking this medicine. Tell your doctor if you faint when taking this medicine
